Physical sunscreens, also known as mineral sunscreens, work by forming a protective barrier on top of the skin to shield it from harmful UV rays.
They typically provide broad-spectrum, long-lasting protection and are a great alternative for those who prefer a more gentle, non-chemical option. Here are four physical sunscreens I've tried and recommend!
1. Dr.G Green Mild Up Sun+
This is my top pick for physical sunscreens, as it blends seamlessly into the skin with minimal whitecast and works well under makeup. The texture is runny and lightweight, and it's fragrance-free. Its natural finish makes it ideal for daily use.
2. Sur.Medic Azulene Mild UV Tone Up Sun Primer
This sunscreen has a lilac tint and a creamy-to-runny texture. It contains fragrance, and the finish is slightly greasy, so it may not be ideal for combination to oily skin. Despite this, it provides reliable sun protection and gives a unique tone-up effect.
3. Benton Skin Fit Mineral Sun Cream
Thicker and creamier in texture, this sunscreen offers a matte finish that's perfect for those who prefer a less shiny look. The whitecast is noticeable but still manageable, and it's fragrance-free, making it suitable for sensitive skin.
4. Torriden Dive In Mild Sun Cream
With a thick, creamy texture, this sunscreen blends easily and sits well under makeup. It's fragrance-free, has a subtle whitecast that fades naturally, and delivers a satin finish, providing both comfort and protection.
Physical sunscreens are excellent for long-lasting protection and come in a variety of textures and finishes to suit different skin types. These offer something for everyone, whether you prefer a matte, satin, or natural finish!
